Hey, I’m Phil - Welcome to
Signature Sounds
This is my little corner of the internet where raw sounds from the world around me are yours to explore, shape, and turn into something uniquely yours.
Who I Am
I’m a music producer and sound designer based in Scotland. I first got hooked on music production when I was 16, messing around with a laptop and a copy of Ableton. Since then, sound has become a kind of obsession, my way of telling stories, expressing texture and emotion, and reconnecting with the world around me.
I studied Fine Art at NCAD in Dublin, and that experience really deepened how I think about sound, not just as music, but as something visual, tactile, and layered.
Most of my time is spent crafting sample packs from oddball sources; shattered light bulbs, soda cans, birdsong in the hills, the soft crunch of gravel under boots. Usually with a coffee nearby and a recorder in hand, I’m always exploring new ways to capture sounds that feel alive, raw, and full of character.
I created Signature Sounds because I wanted to give something back to the creative community that inspired me to start in the first place.
This site is home to a growing library of CC0-licensed sound packs. Meaning they’re totally free to download, use, remix, and share. No paywalls. No ads. Just honest, handcrafted sounds for music producers, game developers, filmmakers, students, and anyone else who’s building something cool.
Some of the packs I’ve made include:
The Coca-Cola Drum Kit – made entirely from soda cans
Broken Light Bulb Percussion Kit – turning smashed glass into sharp, glittery percussive textures
Field Recordings – captured from windy coasts, rainy cities, back gardens, and bus stops
Where the Sounds Have Gone
It blows my mind that these packs have now been downloaded over 3 million times. They've found their way into:
Art installations (like GLEAM at the Olbrich Botanical Garden)
Music Artist releases, Solar Heavy
Educational materials for colleges and universities, included in the internal educational resource of SMU Guildhall. Helping students access high-quality, royalty-free audio for creative and academic projects
Features on MusicRadar, Gajoob Magazine, BandLab, and Sample Library
Games, Designers, including Bearmask, have used my packs in development of Steam games.

Keeping it Free.
Keeping it Free.
I’ve kept this site ad-free and open to everyone because I know what it’s like to be starting out, scraping together sounds and trying to make something meaningful on a budget of £0.
If any of this has helped you, inspired you, or ended up in your next banger/short film/university lecture, I’d be chuffed if you’d consider supporting me on Patreon or buy me a coffee!
The biggest way you can support the site, though, is by grabbing the full soundbank. It’s a one-time purchase that gives you instant access to over 130 sound packs in one handy download — and it helps keep this whole thing free for everyone.
Every bit helps me carve out more time to create, record, and upload fresh packs.
What’s Coming Next…
I’m working on adding a little Behind the Sounds section soon -kind of like a field diary.
I’ll be sharing photos, stories, and location notes from where I’ve been recording (and probably some muddy boots, broken gear, and weird looks from passersby).
Sign up to the newsletter or follow along if you’re curious.

I hope you find something here that sparks your imagination - and if you do, I’d love to hear what you make with it.
